Welcome to Alpha Epsilon Sigma!

About our AES Chapter                                           About KDP

The Alpha Epsilon Sigma  (AES) Chapter at Western Governors University was installed by Dr. Heather Dodds, our Chapter's Counselor at the time, and Karen DeLawter, KDP's liaison to local chapters, on February 19, 2010. Since that time our chapter has grown to almost 6,000  members nationwide with two inductions each year.
KDP Honor Society was founded in 1911 to foster excellence in education and promote fellowship among those dedicated to teaching. For over a century, the Society has consistently grown, starting with a local chapter to become the international organization it is today, with an initiated membership that exceeds 1.5 million!

Our Mission

KDP inspires and equips future and new teachers to thrive.

Who We Are
KDP is the champion for future and new teachers from campus to classroom. We deliver guidance and solutions to the particular issues facing teachers across the US, while maintaining a global perspective.

Our Vision

Excellent teachers build thriving communities and create lifelong opportunities by providing quality, equitable education for all.

Why We're Here
At KDP, our "why" is simple. We inspire and equip future and new teachers to thrive. Why? So they can do the same for the students they serve.

Our History

In 1909, University of Illinois Professor of Education Dr. William Chandler Bagley and a group of four of his students, including Truman Lee Kelley and Thomas E. Musselman, founded the Illinois Education Club.  On March 8, 1911, that club became Kappa Delta Pi (KDP), chosen from the Greek words to represent Knowledge, Duty, and Power. From its inception, KDP has been synonymous with scholarship, innovation, and excellence in the field of education.
