Alexander Taves- I have been a member since 2021 and have served on the Executive Board as Membership Chair for the last 2 years. KDP started as a place of community for me while working on my Master of Arts in Teaching, and I quickly learned that I wanted an increased role in providing that opportunity of community and professional development for my fellow chapter members. My main goal the last 2 years has been to provide high quality professional development opportunities through both speaking engagements and professional learning communities, and I look forward to the opportunity to build on those successes for another 2 year term. My vision for our AES chapter is to increase outreach to the WGU student body so as to expand our chapter’s impact, provide even more engaging opportunities for our current members in order to maximize their membership experience, and to increase member participation in our Celebration of Teaching and Professional Development committee to better serve the teaching community at large. I feel that through my familiarity of our chapter, my background knowledge from my teaching experience, and through my passion of continual learning that I am a well-qualified candidate for this role. In June of this year, I completed my MAT program at WGU alongside my multiple subject teaching credential. I have been working for the last 2 school years at my childhood elementary school here in the South Bay Area of California, where besides my daily duties, I have been a dedicated member on both the Social Studies Curriculum Committee and the Math Curriculum Committee for my district. On top of those professional and academic endeavors, I am a husband of 3 years, cat dad to 2, dog dad to 1, and have a continuous desire to increase access and opportunity for people working in the field of education, something that I feel our AES chapter of KDP does very well.
